Exorcist III, The
William Peter Blatty, 1990.
Set in Georgetown, 15 years after the original film, Detective Kinderman (George C. Scott) is investigating a string of grisly, Satanic killings, which mysteriously carry the hallmarks of the deceased Gemini killer (Brad Dourif). After Kinderman’s friend, a priest, is exsanguinated in his hospital bed, he is shocked to discover what appears to be Father Damien Karras as an inmate of the psychiatric ward. Furthermore, Karras appears to be possessed by the Gemini killer and somehow involved in the murders. Although a little overly dramatic, the film is tense and intelligently constructed. The murder of Nurse Keating (pictured) is one of my absolute favourite horror scenes!
